Fear moves us

with the power of  a raging river

and it always has.

It wins elections and

divides families.

Fear grows , like a bubbling yeast

leavening hatred, greed and power.

Just now, it seems we are afraid

of  foes that have a very small chance

of harming us.

So, while we

the things we rightly should fear

are not given much consideration.

But, this is the time

we need to cultivate

Look a stranger in the eye
and smile

and see the image of God.

Speak up when you see prejudice.

Choose to work that courage muscle

On a daily basis.
Take courageous self- inventory

noting fear in yourself,

and it will

move out

giving courage
