Space

In the inky morning
wet with rain

I arrive at the airport

with bags stuffed full

of books, snacks, medicines

and balms for every

anticipated ailment and all

just for the ten days

journey.
I tried to prepare

for every need

with emergency tools

in every hidden

pocket and fold.

But when every space

brimming, the question is:
Have I left room in my heart?

Is there space for surprise?

Am I open to welcome the stranger?

Will I see God?
