Breath

Growing

into adulthood

I could not catch my breath.

Talking, singing,

I would try to take in

enough air

to let out a releasing

Sigh

and I never

quite

could:

My whole adult life.
In the months since

my Beloved

weakened and died

a hurricane of tears

has raged through

my body and heart,

fierce and at times,

terrifying.

But as I walk in

today’s pelting rain

I notice this:

I am breathing

fully and

Deeply.
