Consider the Birds of the Air

bird-swallows-2

A shining string of

tiny black birds

fling past my window,

small joyful arrows

arching

at the same moment

the raucous crow

clamors

from a stately tree

dressed in gold

and crimson.

They cause me to wake

from my screen-induced sleep

from the drowsiness of self-focus.

When that beauty falls

before my eyes

and I  hear the vibrant

bird-symphony

my heart stops a bit

and I remember

to

breathe.
