What’s Good?

"St." Bruno

 What’s good

about Good Friday?

What do we remember on this day

but torture on a cross

and death?

All of this done to a man

whose worst crime

was care

for those suffering at the margins

and forgiveness of others.

He pushed  the envelope:

He called out the hypocrisies of religious leaders

and institutions, in the long-standing tradition

of the prophet.

In the name of  Love

and for the sake of needed

transformation

he suffered slow suffocation

from a wooden cross.

What is good?

What could come from that

except suffering

loss

despair?

Though maybe

his last words are the clue:

Forgive

them. . .
