Empty and Full

It’s a funny thing

but

if you are moving so fast

that you don’t notice jeweled-dew

resting on a new leaf;

if your mind is moving on

to the next thing

while he is telling his story;

If you crawl into bed

and haven’t breathed in

any part of the goodness

that embraced you

on your rising;

then, you are likely to feel

Empty.

But, if you pause

over your cup and

see the nuthatch

flutter past the window;

if you smile back

at the lounging cat;

if you hear the love

ringing through

the telling of the

inconsequential tale–

then, you are very likely

to be

Full.
